Man Left Seriously Injured After Shocking Heckmondwike Assault
Police are hunting witnesses after a 61-year-old man suffered serious leg injuries in a brutal attack in Heckmondwike.
Clash Turns Violent on Church Lane
The incident took place around 8pm on Friday, May 14th, on Church Lane. The victim was hit by a red Seat Arona, leaving him with severe crush injuries to his leg. He was rushed to hospital, but thankfully his injuries aren’t life-threatening.
Road Rage Erupts Before Attack
The victim had been driving a silver Peugeot Partner box van when he got into a heated dispute with the driver of the red Seat Arona over driving issues. The argument escalated into a physical fight just before the assault. Several bystanders reportedly saw the whole thing unfold.
Suspect Arrested, Police Still Want Witnesses
A 23-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of section 18 assault and later released on police bail. Detective Constable Alyssa Hollingworth from Kirklees CID said:
“We know several passers-by witnessed this serious incident. The victim suffered significant crush injuries. We want to speak to anyone who saw the fight or the attack to unravel the full story.”
