B&M Heroes Save Birthday After Girl Loses £40 of Birthday Cash

A heartbreaking birthday mishap got a happy ending thanks to the quick-thinking staff at B&M Fareham. When 10-year-old Grace lost £40 of her birthday money inside the store, the team went above and beyond to make it right.

Birthday Blow as £40 Vanishes

Grace was buzzing to spend her birthday money on some JoJo bows during a family trip to B&M Newgate Lane, Fareham the day after her 10th birthday. Holding £50, she managed to lose £40 within minutes of shopping.

Mum Dana Squibb sprang into action:

“We looked everywhere and B&M staff helped search too, but no luck. I left my number with the staff hoping someone might hand it in. My husband even posted on the local Facebook page, and many kind people offered money, but we politely declined.”

B&M Staff Go the Extra Mile

The store manager spotted the Facebook post and reviewed CCTV footage, but the money wasn’t found. Then came the surprise.

“The manager inboxed my husband with such a lovely offer I almost cried!” Dana recalled.

Grace was taken back to B&M without being told why. Staff including Robert, Simon, and Milly presented her with a “girlie bundle” featuring the coveted JoJo bows plus a card stuffed with money to replace what she lost.

Community Kindness Wraps Up the Story

Grace also received donations from friends and sympathetic strangers after the story spread online. Dana thanked everyone who played a part:

“Thank you Paula, Danny & Nadene and Adam, thank you Robert and Simon and their amazing staff at B&M and everyone who sent kind words and offers to replace Grace’s money! You made our little girl’s day! I honestly don’t think her smile could get any bigger!”

From a birthday nightmare to a feel-good community win — Grace’s big day was saved, thanks to generosity all round.
