Man Arrested After Shocking Brighton Stabbing
Police swooped fast after reports of a stabbing in Brighton city centre on Boxing Day afternoon. Officers rushed to Western Road near Spring Street at 1.53pm on Thursday, December 26, minutes after the attack was reported.
Suspect Caught After Trying to Flee
The 28-year-old suspect, who has no fixed address, fled before police arrived but was tracked down and arrested on Eaton Road in nearby Hove shortly afterwards. A small knife was recovered at the scene.
Victims in Hospital – One Critical, One Stable
The stabbing left two men injured. A 45-year-old Brighton man remains in critical condition at the Royal Sussex County Hospital. Another victim, a 38-year-old from Hove, is in stable condition.
Police Appeal for Witnesses
Chief Inspector Rachel Swinney reassured locals: “This appears to be an isolated incident. We are not looking for anyone else in connection with this.” She added that patrols have been stepped up and urged anyone with information to contact police online or call 101, quoting Operation Claygate.
