Man Arrested Outside Buckingham Palace After Throwing Suspected Shotgun Cartridges
Drama unfolded outside Buckingham Palace on Tuesday evening as police swooped to arrest a man who hurled several items, believed to be shotgun cartridges, into the royal grounds.
Quick Police Action at Buckingham Palace Gates
The incident took place around 7pm on 2 May near the iconic SW1 gates. Officers moved swiftly to detain the man on suspicion of possessing an offensive weapon. The cartridges were recovered and sent for specialist analysis.
Suspicious Bag Sparks Controlled Explosion
Police later discovered the suspect was carrying a suspicious bag. Experts were called in, and, as a safety precaution, a controlled explosion was carried out. Thankfully, no injuries or shots fired were reported.

“Officers worked immediately to detain the man and he has been taken into police custody. There have been no reports of any shots fired, or any injuries to officers or members of the public. Officers remain at the scene and further enquiries are ongoing.” – Chief Superintendent Joseph McDonald
