Serial Shoplifter Jailed for Bolding Defiance in Crawley Co-op Thefts
Repeat Offender Flouts Court Order
Kenny Grubb, 33, from Midhurst Close, Ifield, has finally been locked up for 12 months at Crawley Magistrates’ Court. Despite a strict Criminal Behaviour Order (CBO) banning him from a string of Crawley shops — including the Co-op, Tesco, Morrisons, and Greggs — Grubb shamelessly hit the same Co-op on Ifield Drive four times between 6 and 17 June.
The brazen thief swiped booze, meat packs, washing detergent, and energy drinks. Once he stuffed a duffle bag with stolen goods and casually walked out without paying. On another occasion, he forcibly barged into the shop as security shutters were going down.
Swift Arrest and Harsh Sentence
Grubb was quickly arrested by Sussex Police and charged with four shop thefts, four breaches of the CBO, and possession of cannabis. His flagrant disregard for the law earned him a 12-month jail term.
Chief Inspector Steve Turner said: “We are determined to prevent shop thefts and support businesses. We’re pleased to have this prolific offender behind bars. Grubb blatantly ignored court orders, but his arrest and sentence send a clear message — repeat retail crime in Crawley will not be tolerated.”
Police Step Up Fight Against Retail Crime
Sussex Police are working hand-in-hand with local shops to tackle rising shoplifting and anti-social behaviour in commercial areas. They urge the public to report any suspicious behaviour to help fight back against crime.
