Police Snatch Nine Knives in Late-Night Nottingham Bust
Nottingham police made a dramatic stop on Albert Street late Thursday, uncovering a stash of knives that could have sparked serious harm. Officers were called out at around 11:15pm, following concerns for a person’s safety.
Six Knives Found on the Street, More Discovered in Custody
After stopping a 27-year-old suspect, officers searched them and found six concealed knives. The drama didn’t end there – a further search after arrest uncovered two more knives plus a pair of scissors.
Suspect Arrested for Knife Possession and Assault on Officer
Tensions flared when the suspect assaulted a police officer, leading to an additional charge for assaulting an emergency worker. The 27-year-old remains in custody as inquiries continue.
Sergeant Steve Willetts said: “Thanks to the alertness of our officers, we were able to take nine blades off the streets. There is absolutely no excuse for anyone to carry a knife in public. Weapons like these put everyone at risk and simply have no place on our streets.”
