Met Police Shoot Two Dogs After East London Attack
Armed police were forced to shoot dead two dogs after a terrifying attack on a woman in an East London park on Sunday afternoon.
Woman Attacked While Walking Dog
A woman was attacked by two aggressive dogs in Commercial Road, E14, at around 5pm. Officers from the Met Police’s Armed Response unit and SO19 swiftly responded to the scene following the call.
Dogs Neutralised, Man Arrested
During the incident, officers encountered a man linked to the dogs. Amid the escalating threat, police discharged a Taser and tragically had to neutralise both animals on the spot.
A spokesman for the Met Police said: “Police were called just after 5pm on Sunday, 7 May, to a woman being attacked by a dog in Commercial Road, E14. Officers attended where the aggressive behaviour of two dogs posed a significant threat.”
The man was arrested on suspicion of having dangerously out-of-control dogs and assault offences. He is now in police custody.
Ongoing Investigation
No one was seriously injured or required hospital treatment. A crime scene remains, and a full investigation has been launched. The Met’s Directorate of Professional Standards will review the officers’ actions in the case, acknowledging that shooting the dogs was a last resort to prevent further harm.
The dramatic event was captured by a local resident and shared with UKNIP.
