Fifty Kent Cops Stand Guard as London Partygoers Descend on Greatstone Beach
Police on High Alert After Chaos at Romney Marsh
Fifty officers from Kent Police spent the afternoon babysitting four packed coaches of visitors from South and North London at Greatstone Beach. Locals took to social media and alerted cops, desperate to prevent a repeat of the chaos left by previous parties that trashed the area.
Massive Event Moves After Camber Sands Shut Down
On August 9, thousands flocked to Romney Marsh after police shut down a planned event at nearby Camber Sands in East Sussex. Partygoers were told via what’s believed to be Snapchat that the gig wasn’t cancelled — just shifted a 20-minute drive away.
The virtual flyer begged attendees: “Don’t share this on social media” ahead of the bash.
Violence and Damage Follow Loud Beach Party
The party blasted loud music well into the night, leaving a trail of litter and wreckage. Things took a dark turn when four police officers were hurt during an altercation with revellers.
A Kent Police spokesman said: “Kent Police was made aware of a large group gathering on Greatstone Beach at 11.41am on August 30. Officers are in the area reminding those attending of the latest government advice on social distancing and encouraging compliance.”
