A well-known former Isle of Wight councillor and pub landlord, Gerard White, has been tragically found murdered in woodland near Lake. The body of Gerry White, who served as a Conservative councillor for Lake North, was discovered Monday evening between Lake and Shanklin.

Police have made an arrest in connection with the suspected murder. The man remains in custody as the investigation continues. Gerard White was not only a councillor but also the landlord of The Stag Inn at Lake, a favourite local pub.

“Lake Parish Council was shocked and saddened to hear of the sudden loss of Gerry White, a former Lake Parish Councillor, Chairman of the Parish Council in 2016-17, and an Isle of Wight councillor representing Lake. Gerry contributed much to the village, both as a councillor and an entrepreneur, and was also a stalwart in the local Rotary.”
