A well-known former Isle of Wight councillor and pub landlord, Gerard White, has been tragically found murdered in woodland near Lake. The body of Gerry White, who served as a Conservative councillor for Lake North, was discovered Monday evening between Lake and Shanklin.

Gerry contributed much to the village, both as a councillor and an entrepreneur, and was also a stalwart in the local Rotary.”
