Chemical Chaos at Guy’s Hospital: Nine Treated After Chlorine Leak
Drama unfolded at Guy’s Hospital in Southwark this morning when a chemical incident sparked panic. Nine people needed medical attention after a chlorine gas leak in a plant room. Four of them were rushed to hospital.
Emergency Services Rush to Scene
The alarm was raised just before 9am after the leak was reported in a “non-patient area” of the hospital. The dangerous gas was thought to have formed after chemicals were accidentally mixed.
One staff member was hurt during the initial reaction. Several colleagues who rushed to help suffered chlorine gas inhalation and required treatment.

The London Ambulance Service confirmed that multiple units responded, including the Hazardous Area Response Team (HART), treating nine patients in total. Four were taken to hospital while five were treated and discharged on the spot.
