A fiery lorry blaze has brought the A12 to a grinding halt this afternoon. The inferno erupted around 12.45pm near Kelvedon, sparking chaos and gridlock along one of Essex’s busiest routes.

  • The full closure runs from junction 23 (B1024 London Road, Kelvedon South) to junction 24 (Kelvedon North)
  • Snarls stretch northbound back to Witham (J21) and southbound all the way to Marks Tey (J25)
  • All vehicles have been held since the fire broke out at the north end of the Kelvedon bypass

Firefighters are currently on scene tackling the burning lorry. Authorities haven’t confirmed when the A12 will reopen, urging drivers to avoid the area and seek alternative routes.
