Murder Probe Launched After Man Stabbed Dead in Abbeywood
Fatal Stabbing Sparks Police Hunt
A murder investigation is underway after a man was fatally stabbed in Abbeywood, South East London. Police and paramedics rushed to the scene just after 5.30pm on Saturday, but the victim was pronounced dead at the spot.
Killer on the Run with Knife
The attacker fled the scene carrying the murder weapon, and no arrests have been made yet. Homicide detectives from the Met’s Specialist Crime South command are leading the probe. A post-mortem is set to take place soon.
Stop-and-Search Powers Activated Amid Rising Violence
Police have authorised enhanced stop-and-search powers (Section 60 CJPOA) in the SE2 Abbeywood area from 6.45pm on 5 March until 3am on 6 March. This comes as part of a crackdown on a recent spike in violent crimes, with extra officers patrolling the streets.
Victim Known Locally as Double M
A Met Police spokesperson said: “Officers were called to reports of a fight on Edington Road, SE2, at around 5.34pm on Saturday 6 March. They found a man with a stab wound who was taken to hospital but sadly died.”
The victim, believed to be 18-year-old known locally as Double M, has been named by locals. Police are trying to inform his next of kin, while a crime scene remains in place.
