Chaos erupted at a Hackney McDonald’s on Mare Street late Monday night as a man went on the rampage, sparking a violent clash with police.
McDonald’s Mayhem: Man Fights Customers
At around 10.40pm on 27 August, staff at the Hackney branch hit the panic alarm after a man started brawling with diners. Police quickly responded to the scene.
Officers Attacked in Shocking Assault
Two officers detained the troublemaker but found themselves surrounded by a hostile crowd. Some bystanders launched a brutal attack on the cops, leaving one with an ankle injury and the other nursing cuts to his face. Remarkably, neither reported sick.
Suspect Arrested as Inquiry Continues
A 30-year-old was arrested for assaulting police and is now held at a north London station. Police are hunting for others involved in the disturbing incident.
Acting Borough Commander Steve Johnson condemned the attack: “Two officers, responding to protect the public, were repeatedly assaulted. This is an unacceptable, nasty incident, with my officers being kicked while they were on the floor just trying to do their job.”
