Two Hurt in Candle Blaze

  • Two people were treated on scene.
  • One was taken to hospital for further emergency care.
  • The fire is thought to be accidental, sparked by unsafe candle use.

Fire Brigade Warns: Don’t Leave Candles Unattended

A spokesperson for the LFB said: “Candles are one of the most common causes of fire. It’s really important that you never leave a candle unattended and keep them away from anything else that can easily catch alight.”

The Brigade urged residents to switch to battery-powered flameless LED candles as a safer, longer-lasting alternative. For those sticking with traditional candles, they advised:

  • Use heat-resistant holders on stable surfaces
  • Keep away from flammable items
  • Never leave them unattended, especially near children or pets

Stay Safe with the Home Fire Safety Checker

The LFB also recommended using their online Home Fire Safety Checker for tailored fire risk advice.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation, and no update has been provided on the condition of the person taken to hospital.
