Scam Alert: Fraudsters Posing as BT to Rip Off Isle of Wight Residents
Fake BT Calls Push Bogus Phone Equipment
Scammers are ringing up Isle of Wight residents, claiming to be working for BT. Their pitch? Selling phone equipment to stop those pesky unwanted calls.
But it’s a trap. Agree to their offer, and you’ll be asked for your bank details—then slapped with a £47 charge.
Protect Yourself: Don’t Hand Over Personal Info
Never give out your bank or personal details over the phone if you’re unsure who you’re talking to. If in doubt, hang up immediately.
