Kent Police Nab Suspects in Daring Dawn Car Chase Using Drone Tech
In a thrilling early morning chase, Kent Police used high-tech drones to catch two suspected thieves who tried to dodge arrest by hiding on a rooftop.
False Plates and Dead-End Escape
The drama kicked off just after 2 a.m. on Thursday, 29th February 2024, when a car with fake number plates refused to stop for officers in Strood. After a tense pursuit, the vehicle was abandoned in Brenchley Close, Chatham. Two suspects fled the scene on foot.
One Slips Into Garden, the Other Takes to the Roof
- One 18-year-old from London was caught hiding in a garden on Rosebery Road with help from a police dog.
- The second, also 18 and London-born, went rogue and clambered onto a rooftop on Balfour Road.
PC Andy Green flew a police drone to locate the elusive rooftop suspect. Once found, Kent Fire and Rescue Service was called in to safely bring him down and hand him over to cops.
Suspects Bailed, Police Praise Tech
Both young men were arrested—facing charges of vehicle theft, dangerous driving, and failing to stop. They are now released on bail while investigations continue.
“The use of drone technology was crucial in tracking down this elusive suspect swiftly and safely,” said a Kent Police spokesperson.
Kent Police continue to push the boundaries of modern policing, using cutting-edge tech to outsmart crooks and bring them to justice fast.
