Brazen Burglars Caught After Van-Ramming Spree Across Nottinghamshire

Van Used as Weapon in Series of Break-Ins

Two daring crooks were nabbed after a wild chase involving two stolen vehicles. The trouble started on Thursday, December 1, when a van was used to smash through gates at two separate Nottinghamshire businesses just hours apart.

First up, around 5.30pm, burglars targeted a private unit on New Road, Radford. They made off with valuable building equipment and tools. Not satisfied, the same van sped to Pasture Road in Stapleford by 11.50pm, smashing gates to a second business. This time, they stole a vehicle and car keys.

High-Speed Police Chase Ends in Arrests

The police’s road crime team arrived to find the van still stuck in the gate, and a stolen car being driven off. A dramatic pursuit followed as the van, fitted with cloned plates, recklessly rammed a police car before finally being stopped. Minutes later, officers also caught and halted the stolen car.

Two 26-Year-Olds Behind Bars

Two men, both aged 26, were arrested on suspicion of burglary, dangerous driving, and failing to stop for police. One faces extra charges including going equipped for theft and driving while disqualified.

Detective Sergeant Georgina Gallagher said: “Thanks to the actions of our officers, we intercepted and recovered two stolen vehicles.”

“Burglary is a deeply intrusive crime that harms local businesses and impacts people’s livelihoods. The reckless driving during the incident has no place on our roads.”

“We have arrested two suspects, but inquiries continue. We urge anyone with information to come forward. You can call police on 101, quoting incident 840 of 1 December 2022, or contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
