Beloved Thames Valley Police Horse Mallory Put to Sleep
Thames Valley Police are mourning the loss of their much-loved police horse, Gorgeous PH Mallory, who was put to sleep after a leg injury worsened beyond recovery.
Tragic Decision After Injury Deteriorates
The Mounted Section broke the sad news on Twitter, revealing their heartbreak over the decision. A spokesperson said:
“We are utterly devastated to announce that we have had to have our Gorgeous PH Mallory put to sleep. After an ongoing battle with a leg injury which has sadly deteriorated, we had to make the most awful but kindest decision we could for him.”
Seven Years of Service and Cherished Memories
Mallory served Thames Valley Police for seven years. The spokesperson added:
“Thank you, Mallory, for your seven years of hard work and service to Thames Valley Police. He was a yard favourite for being the most loveable & cheekiest horse but also the most fun to ride. We will all miss you terribly.”
Part of Funeral Procession for PC Andrew Harper
PH Mallory was one of four police horses leading the solemn procession for PC Andrew Harper in Oxford on October 14, 2019. He joined PH Atlas, PH Odin, and PH Luna in escorting the motorcade to Christchurch Cathedral.
