Police have launched a fresh hunt for Abdul Ezedi, suspected of a brutal alkali attack on his ex-partner and her two young kids. The man is feared to have jumped into the River Thames, triggering a tense search operation around Chelsea Bridge in central London.

Marine Teams Scour Thames After Suspect’s Possible River Plunge

Since Saturday, marine police have been combing the Thames near Chelsea Bridge, hoping to find Ezedi alive. The intense search ramped up after CCTV footage showed him leaning over the bridge’s railings, sparking fears he threw himself into the fast-flowing river.

Two bodies were found in the Thames on Saturday — one by HMS Belfast and another near Limehouse. But police confirmed neither was Ezedi. Both deaths are being treated as unexpected as investigations continue.

Manhunt After Alkali Attack Leaves Family Seriously Injured

Ezedi is accused of dousing his ex-partner and her two children with a corrosive alkali in Clapham on January 31. The victims remain in hospital, with the mother in critical condition. Notably, Ezedi is not the father of the children.

Detectives tracked his last known movements from Tower Hill, where he walked around four miles to Chelsea Bridge. CCTV caught him near Vauxhall Bridge just hours after the savage attack.

Police Brace for Grim Outcome as Search Continues

Commander Jon Savell told reporters, “We have spent the last 24 hours meticulously following the CCTV, and it’s our main working hypothesis that he’s now gone into the water.” Despite the massive effort, he warned the river’s strong currents might mean Ezedi’s body is never found.

Detective Superintendent Rick Sewart added, “I’m prepared to say that he’s gone into the water and if he’s gone into the water then that’s the most probable outcome.”

Public Urged to Come Forward With Information

Police continue to appeal for anyone with information on Ezedi’s whereabouts to come forward urgently. The investigation remains active as officers piece together the events that led to this chilling crime and the terrifying manhunt that followed.
