Toddler Seriously Injured in Horrific Dog Attack in Worcestershire

A two-year-old boy was left seriously hurt after a dog attack at a property in Egdon, Worcestershire, on Monday.

The shocking incident follows a Saturday attack in Cannock, Staffordshire, where an eight-year-old boy suffered facial injuries.

Another Arrest Made After Cannock Dog Mauling

In Cannock, a 51-year-old woman was arrested and later bailed on suspicion of owning a dog dangerously out of control causing injury. During the attack, a six-year-old girl and a 35-year-old woman were also hurt, with arm injuries reported by Staffordshire Police. The woman held is currently on bail.

Recent Fatal Dog Attacks Raise Alarm

  • Bella-Rae Birch, 17 months old, was mauled to death by her family’s pet American Bully XL dog at their home in St Helens on 21 March.
  • Kyra Leanne King, just three months old, was fatally attacked by a husky at Ostler’s Plantation near Woodhall Spa on 6 March.

Bella-Rae’s family said she will be “sadly missed but never forgotten.”

Police Investigate Egdon Attack, Dogs Removed from Property

West Mercia Police confirmed multiple dogs were involved in the Egdon incident, though exact numbers were not specified. The animals have been removed from the property and are not considered a threat to the public. None were breeds banned by UK law, which currently prohibits Pit Bull terriers, Japanese Tosas, Dogo Argentinos, and Fila Brasileiros.

“This is an incredibly sad incident and our thoughts are with the young child and his family,” said Chief Inspector Fergus Green. “Investigations are ongoing into the circumstances of the incident.”

Officers remain at the Egdon scene as inquiries continue into the cause and details of the attack.
