Undercover officers caught suspects red-handed at M&S Simply 123. They also cracked a case involving stolen alcohol from Tesco on Gravel Walk earlier in the week. The operation even resulted in the seizure of cannabis.

Sergeant Lee Thompson Vows to Protect Local Shops

“Neighbourhood officers in Canterbury are determined to bring to justice those who target local shops,” said Sergeant Lee Thompson of the Canterbury Community Safety Unit.

He added, “Last Thursday’s action saw us engaging with stores, offering advice, deploying uniformed officers to deter theft attempts and plain clothes teams to catch offenders in the act. We’ll continue operations like this to shield businesses and put shoplifters behind bars.”
