Big Bust in Crawley: Sussex Police Seize Drugs and Cash Worth Tens of Thousands
Sussex police have dealt a heavy blow to organised crime with a major drug raid north of Crawley. Armed with a search warrant under the Misuse of Drugs Act, the Tactical Enforcement Unit (TEU) swooped on a local property on Saturday, April 8, uncovering a stash worth tens of thousands in drugs and cash.
Chaos as Suspects Tried to Escape
Officers burst in to find two men making a desperate dash out the back. But they didn’t get far. Thanks to the TEU team and PD Tsar, a three-year-old German Shepherd police dog, both suspects were quickly caught. Meanwhile, another culprit made a frantic attempt to flush class A drugs down the toilet. A fourth man tried to fool the officers by pretending to be asleep.
Four Arrested After Massive Haul of Cocaine and Cannabis
The raid led to four arrests. Police seized a huge quantity of cocaine — both in blocks and individually wrapped — plus a large amount of cannabis. PD Paddy helped locate thousands of pounds in cash hidden in carrier bags inside the property.
West Sussex Policing Superintendent Nicholas Dias said: “The officers involved in this operation have shown great teamwork to prevent drugs suspects operating in Crawley. We are determined to disrupt the supply of drugs and related criminal activity that causes huge harm in our communities.”
Suspects on Bail as Investigation Continues
- Three men aged 29, 24, and 23 face charges including possession with intent to supply class A drugs, involvement with class B drugs, and concealing criminal property.
- The fourth man, 25, is suspected of involvement in supplying class A drugs.
- All have been released on bail pending further investigations.
