Tragic Teen Ava White Stabbed at Liverpool Christmas Lights Switch-On

Ava White, just 14, was fatally stabbed in the neck while out with friends at Liverpool’s Christmas lights switch-on on 25 November. She was rushed to Alder Hey Children’s Hospital but sadly died from her injuries.

Teen Charged with Murder Over Fatal Stabbing

A youth, who cannot be named for legal reasons, has been charged with Ava’s murder and possession of a blade. Senior Liverpool coroner Andre Rebello confirmed the cause of death as a stab wound to the neck during a hearing at Gerard Majella Courthouse.

“At 8.33pm she was in Williamson Square,” said Mr Rebello. “She then walked along Church Street to Church Alley, where the stabbing happened. Paramedics attended and Ava was taken to Alder Hey.”

Family Devastated as City Mourns

Ava’s mother, Leanne White, identified her daughter. The coroner expressed condolences to Ava’s family, who were not present at the court hearing.

Her father, Robert Martin, described the family as “completely devastated and heartbroken”. Hundreds gathered in Liverpool for a vigil, leaving flowers and balloons in her memory.

Next Steps in Court

The teenager charged is set to appear for a plea and trial preparation hearing in the coming weeks.
