Police Warn: Drink and Drug Driving Comes With Heavy Price
“This case clearly shows the devastating effects drink and drug driving can have; here, a young man suffered serious injuries caused by a professional driver. I hope the sentence today makes him rethink his choices,” said Detective Inspector Steve Kilsby from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit.
“Our message is clear – don’t drink or drug drive. You’ll face harsh penalties including prison and losing your licence, which can wreck your life and career. Worst of all, lives can be lost.
“Over the past three years nationally, drink and drug driving caused an average of 200 deaths and more than 900 serious injuries annually in Great Britain.”
