Teen Stabbed with Knife Tip Lodged in Head in Shocking Street Attack

Terrifying Chase Ends in Deadly Ambush
The horror kicked off just before 4.10pm on 1 May last year in Cape Hill, when Cam’Ron Dunn stabbed Derlano twice in the street. The victim fled but was pursued into 1 Road, where he sought shelter in a shop. Dunn followed him inside and cornered him in a storeroom, stabbing him repeatedly before making his escape.
Despite his severe injuries, Derlano managed to leave the shop and climb into a parked car, which then drove off. Minutes later, police found him collapsed on Heath Street, Smethwick, after the vehicle crashed nearby.
Officers gave immediate first aid before paramedics rushed Derlano to hospital. Tragically, he was pronounced dead about an hour later.
Knife Murder Caught on CCTV and Fast Police Action
The post-mortem revealed Derlano died from a stab wound to the chest and had multiple other wounds, including the chilling knife tip stuck in his head.
Police quickly recovered CCTV footage of the brutal attack from the shop. One officer recognised the attacker. At 1.20am on 2 May 2021, cops raided Cam’Ron Dunn’s home in Sketchley Close, Smethwick, and arrested the then 18-year-old on suspicion of murder.
Evidence Found But Murder Weapon Still Missing
- Freshly-washed blue tracksuit matching attacker’s clothing seized from Dunn’s lounge
- Stab-proof vest recovered from his bedroom
- Knife sheath discovered in downstairs toilet
- Two machetes found—one in a garden BBQ, one under the living room settee—but neither was the murder weapon
The actual knife used in the attack remains untraced.
Swift Justice: Killer Found Guilty in 90 Minutes
After a seven-day trial at Wolverhampton Crown Court, the jury took just an hour and a half to convict Dunn of murder.
