Suspect Charged After Shocking Assault in Barnsley Park

Brandon Woolven Held Over Sexual Assault

Brandon Woolven, homeless but from Brighton, Sussex, faces serious charges including rape, three counts of sexual assault, and two counts of actual bodily harm. The charges relate to a disturbing attack in Barnsley.

Attack Details

Police were called around 10.20am on Thursday 14 April after a woman in her 20s was attacked while walking through parkland off Pontefract Road. The victim was pulled into a narrow pathway near Beevor Street Industrial Estate and assaulted.

Investigation and Court Appearance

Woolven is currently held in custody. The victim is receiving support from specially trained officers. Woolven is set to appear at Sheffield Magistrates Court on 16 April 2022.
