Detective Praises Victim’s Bravery, Warns Against Domestic Abuse
“No one – woman, man, or child – should face domestic abuse, especially in a place they believe is safe,” said Detective Constable Rob Drew.
“Victims often endure abuse for a long time, which can be physical, sexual, psychological, or financial. In this case, Matthew Saunders acted completely inappropriately, causing serious injury.”
“I commend the victim for her bravery in reporting the abuse. It’s not easy to relive trauma, but her courage helped us secure a conviction. We hope this brings closure.”
“We have zero tolerance for domestic abuse. Offenders will be found and stopped.”
