Knife-Carrying Drifter Locked Up After Euston Arrest
Robert Thomas, 34, a homeless man with a trail of anti-social offences, has been jailed for six months after being caught with a Stanley knife near Euston Station.
Quick Arrest After Public Tip-Off
On 5 August at 3.45pm, a vigilant member of the public spotted Thomas fiddling with a bag tied to a bicycle outside Euston railway station, North London. The tip was passed to a patrolling officer who quickly stopped and searched Thomas.
During the search, Thomas openly admitted to carrying a Stanley knife. The blade was seized and he was arrested on the spot for possession of a pointed/bladed article.
Judge Hits Thomas with Jail Time and Criminal Behaviour Order
On 6 August, Thomas pleaded guilty at North London Magistrates’ Court. Then, on 30 September at Inner London Crown Court, he was slapped with a six-month prison sentence. He must also pay a £128 victim surcharge and has been slapped with a Criminal Behaviour Order (CBO) to keep him in check.
Police Crack Down on Persistent Offenders
BTP Police Sergeant David Underwood stated: “Thomas has been convicted of several anti-social offences over the past year and carrying a knife in a public place is never acceptable.”
“We will continue to deal with anti-social behaviour robustly and ensure that Criminal Behaviour Orders are issued to stop persistent offenders.”
“This conviction is part of ‘Operation Mammoth’ – a joint effort by BTP, Metropolitan Police, and Camden Council targeting anti-social behaviour linked to street populations.”
