Zaqiel Gardnar Nabbed With Heroin, Crack, and a Sword
Zaqiel Gardnar, from Highbrook Road, London, was sentenced to two years and four months at Maidstone Crown Court on 3 September 2020. He admitted possession with intent to supply heroin and crack cocaine, alongside cannabis possession.
But that’s not all – Gardnar was also charged with carrying an offensive weapon in public, driving without insurance, and possessing criminal property.
Caught During Covid Patrol – Drugs and Samurai Sword Seized
The drama unfolded on 21 April 2020 when officers on routine patrol spotted Gardnar inside a car in Central Park Gardens, Chatham, at around 11:40am. Due to social distancing rules, cops approached the vehicle. They were hit by a strong smell of cannabis.
When Gardnar exited the car, a package containing about 20 wraps of drugs fell from his trouser leg. A search of the vehicle revealed a samurai sword under the passenger seat, plus cash and mobile phones.
A later search at the station found more drugs concealed on Gardnar. Tests confirmed the drugs were heroin and crack cocaine. Further investigation of mobile phones uncovered bulk texts hinting at drug deals.
Officer: ‘Samurai Sword Could Have Caused Disaster’
“Gardnar was in possession of class A drugs with the sole purpose of selling drugs in Medway, targeting vulnerable users to make a profit,” said Detective Constable Mark Donovan.
“Not only did he have heroin and crack, but also a samurai sword that could have caused serious harm. I’m glad he’s off the streets along with those drugs and the weapon.”
The judge also ordered the destruction of all seized drugs and the samurai sword as part of Gardnar’s sentence.
