County Line Kingpin Caught: Mateo Bondzie Sentenced for Ramsgate Drug Dealing
Kent Police have cracked down on county lines drug dealing, landing Mateo Bondzie behind bars for running a major operation dubbed ‘P’ in Ramsgate.
What’s a County Line?
County lines are illegal drug networks. Organised gangs use dedicated phone lines to push drugs, usually from big cities into smaller towns and rural areas. Bondzie’s line blasted marketing messages to local users, tempting them with cocaine and heroin.
Police Sting Uncovers Phone Evidence and Cash
- Two phones linked to Bondzie were traced—one near his Broadstairs home on Poplar Road, the other in London where he stayed with family.
- A search of his home on 15 September 2020 uncovered over 100 messages about drug supply on one handset, including a bulk message saying ‘Back on P’.
- Police also found around £560 cash, suspected drug money, stashed in his bedroom.
Judgement Day: Bondzie Locked Up
The 22-year-old admitted charges of cocaine and heroin supply plus possession of criminal property at Canterbury Crown Court. On 3 November, he was sentenced to two years and eight months behind bars.
Investigating officer DC Pete Frampton said: “Mateo Bondzie used phone messaging as a quick way to lure and tempt drug users into buying more Class A drugs.
“Drug dealers are there to make money and show no consideration for the lives they ruin in the process. Bondzie was just another one out to profit from someone else’s misery and addiction.”
“We take a very dim view of such activity and officers will always look to disrupt this illegal trade and bring those responsible for dealing before the courts.”
