Double Life Sentences for Worsley Fire Murderers
Zak Bolland and David Worrall of Worsley have been locked up for a combined 77 years after being found guilty of setting a devastating house fire that killed four children and left their mother, Michelle Pearson, fighting for her life.
Tragedy on Jackson Street
The horrific blaze broke out in the early hours of Monday, 11 December 2017, at a home on Jackson Street, Walkden. Firefighters battled a fierce inferno while police rushed to the scene just before 5am. Tragically, eight-year-old Brandon Pearson, 15-year-old Demi Pearson, seven-year-old Lacie Pearson all died instantly, while three-year-old Lia succumbed to injuries two days later in hospital.
Murder, Attempted Murder & Manslaughter Convictions
- Bolland and Worrall were convicted of murdering the four children in 2018 and jailed today at Manchester Crown Square Court.
- Bolland also found guilty of attempted murder against Michelle Pearson, 16-year-old Kyle Pearson, and his teenage friend.
- Bolland sentenced to 40 years, Worrall to 37 years.
- Courtney Brierley, who pleaded guilty to manslaughter of Michelle Pearson, received 12 years.
Michelle Pearson’s Fight Ends in Heartbreak
Michelle Pearson, 37, was left critically injured by the fire and spent months in intensive care. While hospitalized, she was devastated to learn of the loss of four of her six children. Sadly, she passed away on 25 August 2019, nearly two years after the tragedy.
