Derbyshire Cops Face Court Over Alleged On-Duty Affairs
Two Derbyshire Police officers are heading to court next month after being charged with misconduct in public office. The charges follow a probing investigation by the Derbyshire Police Counter Corruption Unit (CCU), guided by the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC).
Ex-PC Nash Slapped With 13 Charges
Daniel Nash, a former police constable, faces 13 counts of misconduct. The IOPC began its investigation in August 2020 after Derbyshire Constabulary flagged concerns. Between January 2015 and December 2020, Nash allegedly pursued multiple sexual relationships with women while on duty — before resigning amid the fallout.
Servicing PC Also Charged Over On-Duty Misconduct
Matthew Longmate, a 46-year-old serving constable currently suspended, faces a single count of misconduct in public office. The charge relates to claims he engaged in sexual acts with a woman while on duty in October 2015. The IOPC received this referral in November 2021, triggering Derbyshire’s CCU probe.
Next Stop: Westminster Magistrates’ Court
After thorough investigations, the IOPC sent the cases to the Crown Prosecution Service, which authorised the charges. Both Nash and Longmate are due in Westminster Magistrates’ Court on September 20, 2022, where their alleged on-duty indiscretions will be put under the spotlight.
