Parole Officer Caught Forcing Sex on Vulnerable Woman in Rehab
Anthony Demetro, 44, a state parole officer, has pleaded guilty to forcing a female parolee to perform oral sex on him back in April 2021. The victim was undergoing residential drug and alcohol treatment as part of her parole conditions. Demetro admitted he knew she didn’t consent but used his authority to coerce her for his own sexual gratification.
Abuse of Power in State Parole System
Assistant Attorney General Kristen Clarke blasted Demetro’s actions, saying, “This defendant’s job was to help parolees reenter society, but instead he abused his power and authority to sexually assault a female parolee seeking treatment.” She vowed the Civil Rights Division will continue to hold officers accountable for violating the rights of vulnerable people in their custody.
Justice Officials Praise Victim’s Bravery
U.S. Attorney Will Thompson condemned Demetro’s “immoral and illegal conduct,” stressing it would not be tolerated. He lauded the victim’s courage for coming forward despite risking her personal freedom. The FBI, Justice Department, and prosecutors were all praised for their work on the case.
FBI Pledges Zero Tolerance for Abuse
FBI Special Agent Mike Nordwall promised relentless pursuit of officials who break their oath of office. “This plea sends a message: those who abuse their authority will be held accountable,” Nordwall said.
Heavy Penalties Await
- Demetro faces up to 15 years in prison
- Up to five years of supervised release
- Mandatory registration as a sex offender under federal law
This shocking case exposes the dark side of those meant to aid rehabilitation and highlights the importance of justice for victims brave enough to speak out.
