Shotgun Gang Ramps Up Horror Raid Over £180 Debt
Ravi Talware led a ruthless gang of masked intruders into John Jones’ family home before unloading a shotgun in a terrifying attack.
Brother Stabbed Trying to Flee
Mr Jones’ brother tried to escape but was stabbed multiple times during the brutal assault at Caslon Crescent.
Talware chillingly warned: “If anyone comes down the stairs, they are getting shot. If anyone rings the police, they are dead.”
Burned-Out Getaway Car and Murder Probe
The gang made a clean getaway in a car later found torched less than two miles away in Gibbet Lane. The fatal attack occurred around 7.30pm on 25 January last year.
Investigators uncovered the motive — Mr Jones owed Talware just £180.
A member of the public discovered a bag with dumped weapons in a bin the next morning, helping crack the case.
Convictions for Murder, Manslaughter, and More
- Ravi Talware found guilty of murder, shotgun possession, carrying blades, and perverting justice.
- Kevin Waldron, who waited and then drove the gang from the scene, convicted of the same charges.
- Scott Garrington also convicted on all counts.
- Three teenagers aged 16 and 17 convicted of manslaughter, wounding, possession of imitation firearm, and blades.
Det Insp Laura Harrison said: “This was an appallingly violent attack which left one man dead and another seriously injured, all over a relatively trivial sum of money.
“A lot of planning went into this attack and it was thanks to great detective work by officers who recovered CCTV and pieced together the killers’ movements that we’ve been able to get justice for Mr Jones’ family today.”
Sentencing is scheduled for June.
