Brutal Killer Jailed for Life After Savage Wheelie Bin Attack
Earlier this month, Wayne Froud, 36, was found guilty of murdering Sean Mason in a grisly, sustained assault. His accomplice, Steven Milroy, 47, was convicted of manslaughter in the shocking case.
Shocking Attack Caught on Phone
During the two-week Newcastle Crown Court trial, the jury heard how Froud and Milroy brutally beat their victim. Part of the savage attack was captured on Milroy’s phone. The harrowing footage shows a bloodied Sean Mason on his knees, virtually unable to speak, before Froud lands another blow and coldly says: “Goodnight, God bless. That’s all I’ve got to say to you boy. Goodbye.”
Callous Killers Dump Victim in Wheelie Bin
Instead of helping Mason, the callous pair stuffed his battered body into a wheelie bin. They then dumped it in a communal garden outside Milroy’s Penshaw flat. The 55-year-old victim was later discovered by his son and died from his devastating injuries.
Justice Served: Life for Froud, 19 Years for Milroy
Both men denied murder throughout the trial. A victim impact statement from the Mason family said they were “robbed of a loving dad and a granddad” and praised the jury for seeing through the “blatant lies” of the killers.
The judge sentenced Froud, from Wensleydale Avenue, Penshaw, to life imprisonment with a minimum of 24 years. Milroy, of Avondale Avenue, Penshaw, was handed 19 years behind bars.
Detective Chief Inspector Sharon Chatterton said: “While nothing will bring Sean back or erase the heartless actions of these violent men, hopefully today can help his family and loved ones begin to move on with their lives. Froud and Milroy are dangerous men who have showed no remorse for what they did – and I welcome the sentences handed down today.”
“I would like to praise the Mason family – throughout these court proceedings, which have been very distressing at times, they have behaved with nothing other than dignity.”
