Knife-wielding thug attacks police dog in Endrook Valley
Reece Armstrong, 26, with no fixed address, sparked chaos in Endrook Valley on the afternoon of March 23, 2022. After a fight with another man, police arrived at 4.20 p.m. and tried to intervene.
Zombie knife attack on police dog
Armstrong briefly spoke to the officer before pulling out a large zombie knife from his hoodie. He lunged aggressively, shouting, “I’m going to kill your dog!” Despite orders to stop, Armstrong swung the blade at PD Blue, the police dog, grazing his collar but sparing him serious harm. The thug then bolted from the scene.
Seconds later, he’s caught fleeing again
Just days later on March 28, firearms patrols tracked Armstrong down in Folkestone Town Centre. He tried to escape once more but was cornered with help from a police drone. Officers recovered the same zombie knife used in the attack.
Justice served at Canterbury Crown Court
Armstrong was immediately recalled to prison for breaching his licence before being charged with two counts of possessing an offensive weapon in public, assaulting an emergency worker, and causing fear of violence.
He pleaded guilty and on July 7 was sentenced at Canterbury Crown Court.
“Armstrong’s behaviour was utterly abhorrent; PD Blue and his handler were extremely lucky to be able to walk away from this incident unharmed,” said PC Sophia Lateu from Kent Police. “Our officers face unpredictable and sometimes dangerous situations daily. Assaults on officers, staff, or police dogs are completely unacceptable. We will prosecute anyone who threatens their safety.”
