Police Speak Out: Justice and Protection for Victims

Detective Inspector Jim McLauchlan, from the National Child Abuse Investigation Unit, said: “We hope this conviction brings some measure of closure to his victim.”

He added, “Reporting child abuse is incredibly hard and can take years. We want victims to know that when they are ready, we will listen, investigate, and act swiftly to keep others safe.”

Community Responsibility: Protect Scotland’s Children

DI McLauchlan stressed everyone has a role to play in safeguarding children. “We must spot signs when a child is at risk and take action. Creating a safe environment where victims can come forward without shame is vital.”

Anyone with concerns or information about potential child abusers is urged to contact Police Scotland on 101.
