Child Abuser James Torbett Slapped with Extra Jail Time
James Torbett has been sentenced at the High Court in Inverness. He must serve an additional three years on top of his current sentence.

Detective Inspector Jim McLauchlan, from the National Child Abuse Investigation Unit, said: “We hope this conviction brings some measure of closure to his victim.”
He added, “Reporting child abuse is incredibly hard and can take years. We want victims to know that when they are ready, we will listen, investigate, and act swiftly to keep others safe.”

DI McLauchlan stressed everyone has a role to play in safeguarding children. “We must spot signs when a child is at risk and take action. Creating a safe environment where victims can come forward without shame is vital.”
