Brutal Hostel Murder: Jordan Graham Jailed for Life Over Deadly Attack
Life Sentence for Savage Assault
Jordan Graham, 25, with no fixed address, has been handed a life sentence with a minimum of 15 years behind bars for the murder of Abu Yusuf Twaha. Graham pleaded guilty at the Old Bailey on May 30, and the sentence was delivered on July 11.
Shocking Attack Caught on CCTV
The horrifying assault unfolded at a hostel in Well Street, East London, where both men were staying on September 6, 2020. Neighbours in adjacent rooms, tension had been simmering all day before erupting into a brutal fight in the corridor.
Graham viciously stamped and kicked Abu repeatedly in the head and chest after he had fallen and was helpless on the ground. Despite Abu being unresponsive and posing no threat, the savage assault continued—captured on CCTV for all to see.
Victim Left Unconscious, Dies Months Later
After two witnesses found Abu unconscious and left to seek help, Graham delivered one final, brutal kick. Emergency services arrived to find Abu suffering multiple brain bleeds. He was rushed to hospital but never recovered, dying on February 18, 2021.
A special post-mortem confirmed Abu died from pneumonia and head injuries sustained in the attack.
Justice Served After Long Investigation
“This assault was dreadful, and the shocking violence perpetrated was caught on CCTV,” said Detective Constable Luke Martinez. “It was difficult to witness this sustained attack on a man who had been rendered helpless so quickly, and I am grateful that we were able to bring the guilty man to justice.”
The Central East Basic Command Unit’s CID, supported by the Met’s Specialist Crime Command, led a thorough investigation. Graham was charged with murder and accepted responsibility, bringing some closure to this tragic case.
