Brutal Wimbledon Stabbing: Paul Dalton Murdered in Deadly Attack

Paul Dalton, 41, was viciously stabbed to death after a brief argument with a fellow resident. The attacker, Mongo Bolili, 35, aka ‘Ed’ from Merton, hunted Paul down before delivering a fatal blow.

Deadly Assault Caught on CCTV

The tragedy unfolded just after midnight on 13 January 2021 at a Wimbledon address. Police arrived at 12:55am to find Paul lying in a pool of blood. Despite frantic first aid efforts, he died at the scene from a single stab wound to the back of his left thigh that severed his femoral vein and artery.

CCTV footage showed Paul slamming a communal door near Bolili’s room. Bolili then prowled the building seemingly searching for Paul. At 00:37hrs, Bolili entered a friend’s room where Paul was seated. Less than two minutes later, Bolili left – after launching his deadly attack.

Justice Served at the Old Bailey

Mongo Bolili was convicted of murder on Friday, 1 July, at the Old Bailey. On 4 November, he was handed life imprisonment with a minimum term of 23 years, later reduced to 21 years and 72 days for time served.

A forensic exam found Paul’s blood on the knife’s blade and Bolili’s DNA on the handle. Paul’s friend, who witnessed the stabbing, played a vital role in securing the conviction by providing critical testimony.

DCI Jim Shirley, lead investigator, said: “Bolili claimed Paul’s friend had stabbed him, but there was no evidence to support that. My team worked tirelessly to bring justice. I hope Paul’s family find some comfort knowing we have done everything possible to catch the killer.”
