Paedophile Sentenced to 10 Years for Abusing Girl, 9

Steven Roy Reddin, 58, from Ryde, has been locked up for a decade after sexually abusing a girl between 1991 and 1994. The victim was just nine years old when the vile attacks began.

Lengthy Probe Ends with Guilty Plea

The brave victim came forward in 2019, triggering a lengthy police investigation. Reddin was charged with six horrific offences, including:

  • Two counts of rape of a girl under 16
  • Gross indecency with a child
  • Inciting a girl under 14 to commit gross indecency
  • Two counts of indecent assault on a girl

He admitted all charges at Isle of Wight Crown Court on 24 May. Today, Friday 20 August, he was sentenced to 10 years behind bars.

Tough Orders to Protect the Victim

Alongside the prison term, Reddin was slapped with a lifetime restraining order and a 15-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order, designed to keep him away from the victim and others.

Investigator Praises Victim’s Courage

“The woman in this case has shown incredible courage in coming forward to report this terrible abuse, which she had kept a secret for many years,” said DC Gillian 1, lead investigator. “The damage caused by this appalling abuse is indescribable, but thanks to her bravery, Reddin has been brought to justice. He knew exactly what he was doing but showed zero remorse.”
