Harassment and Racist Abuse Lands Man Behind Bars
Thomas Cramer, 29, from Addlestone, has been jailed for 10 months after terrorising Royal Holloway students with racist and threatening behaviour. The Guildford Crown Court handed him a five-month prison term plus five months on licence, alongside a five-year Criminal Behaviour Order.
Storm of Abuse on Royal Holloway Campus
Cramer was first nabbed on 30 May after police got wind of him snapping photos of female students at Royal Holloway in Egham and posting them on Instagram with nasty comments. When people challenged him in the comments, he fired back with threats and racist insults.
Released initially under investigation, he was rearrested on 1 June after continuing his offensive posts and threats online. Police found him at Staines station under the influence of cannabis and in possession of the drug, plus he was driving without a license or insurance.
Criminal Behaviour Order and Tough Restrictions
Besides his criminal convictions, Cramer was also sentenced for racially abusing his housing officer twice earlier this year. The court banned him from entering Royal Holloway University and all its accommodation. He must not take or upload pictures of any women without written consent.
Police Praise Reporting Students
“Cramer made the students at Royal Holloway fear for their safety where they lived, studied, and socialised,” said Inspector James Wyatt, Runnymede Borough Commander. “His racist and derogatory comments towards ethnic minorities and women are wholly unacceptable and won’t be tolerated. Thanks to everyone who came forward – I hope this sentence reassures Surrey’s student community.”
