Lewisham Man Jailed for Sex Crimes Against Underage Girl
Joshua Dee, 21, from Lewisham, has been sentenced after admitting to sexual offences against a young girl in south-east London. The guilty plea came at Woolwich Crown Court on Monday, 6 July.
Serious Charges and Tough Sentence
- Convicted of sexual activity with a child, sexual touching, and sexual communication
- Sentenced to a 24-month community order
- Ordered to complete 100 hours of unpaid work
- Given a 30-day rehabilitation order
- Compensation of £250 awarded to the victim
- Subject to a five-year notification requirement
Disturbing Abuse at Youth Club
The offences date back to September 2016 when Dee met the victim, then just 13, at a youth club. Despite knowing her age, he pursued a sexual relationship. The victim revealed she was pressured and manipulated, feeling guilty when refusing to engage in sexual acts.
Police gathered damning evidence from Dee’s electronic devices, which showed incriminating sexual communication with the victim.
Detective Hails Victim’s Courage
“The victim in this case has shown strength of character beyond her age and, supported by my team on the Central Specialist Command Modern Slavery and Child Exploitation Team, ensured that Dee was held accountable for his crimes,” said Detective Inspector Laura Hiller.
“I hope that this sentence brings her and her family a measure of comfort and closure to move on.”
