Knife-Wielding Robbery Foiled at London Flat
Muhammed Rashiq, 19, from Watford, faces five years behind bars after a terrifying knife robbery in London’s W9. Rashiq and an accomplice, both wearing Covid face masks, stormed a sex worker’s flat just before midnight on 30 December 2020, brandishing large knives.
Victim’s Quick Thinking Scares Off Attackers
The robbery was stopped in its tracks when someone at the property pretended to call the police. The two men fled, stealing only the woman’s iPhone. Police used the phone booking number to zero in on Rashiq, who was later identified by the victim in an ID parade.
Justice Served at Southwark Crown Court
Officers found evidence at Rashiq’s home linking him to the crime. Though he first denied involvement, Rashiq confessed at a preliminary hearing. On 13 May, Southwark Crown Court sentenced him to five years and three months in custody.
DC Ben Lovatt of the Central West Robbery Squad said: “This was a frightening attack on a young woman. We are absolutely committed to tackling violence against women and girls, working tirelessly to target the perpetrators, prioritising action against sexual and violent, predatory offenders. We want all women and girls to feel safe anywhere and have the confidence to come to us when they are not.”
