Knife Horror in Barton-Le-Clay: Man Stabs Partner and Himself
Adam Latchford, 56, from Bedford Road, Barton-Le-Clay, has been sentenced at Luton Crown Court after pleading guilty to stabbing his partner in a terrifying early morning attack. The brutal incident unfolded in the early hours of Sunday, 9 August, following a heated argument that quickly spiralled out of control.
Triple Stab Wounds and Self-Inflicted Injury
Latchford threatened his partner with a stabbing before fetching a kitchen knife. He then plunged the blade into her abdomen and chest three times. The victim quickly alerted a member of the household to call 999. Before paramedics arrived, Latchford stabbed himself in the chest, causing a serious wound.
Victim Left Traumatized: “More Than Just Scars”
“I cannot stop thinking about what happened, I have so many questions as to why he would do this,” said the victim. “Sometimes I feel like I have been left with more than just scars from the knife.”
Police Warn: Domestic Violence Can Ruin Lives
Detective Constable Leila Dales from the Emerald team said, “It is only by luck that her injuries, although severe, were not life-threatening. Latchford genuinely put her in fear for her life, and she is now dealing with the aftermath.”
“Violence in any form is completely unacceptable. If you feel unsafe at home, please reach out. We are here to support victims of domestic abuse, investigate crimes, and bring offenders to justice.”
