Disqualified Driver Hits 115mph in Dangerous High-Speed Chase

Ozgur Suyolcu, banned from driving, raced at over 115mph during a wild police chase that ended in a crash. The 27-year-old tore through residential streets, ignoring red lights and forcing schoolchildren to flee for safety.

BMW Driver Leads Police on Reckless Pursuit

On 28 January 2022, Tunbridge Wells Community Policing Team (CPT) tried to stop a BMW linked to drug supply investigations. Suyolcu grabbed the wheel and sped off, weaving dangerously through the town centre. He jumped traffic signals and crossed into oncoming lanes to dodge capture.

  • Two children narrowly escaped on St James’ Road.
  • Suyolcu crashed into a Land Rover on Pembury Road.
  • A police helicopter tracked him as he took the A21 towards Sevenoaks before doubling back.

Knuckledusters Found After Arrest

Officers finally caught Suyolcu at a home on Maidstone Road, Paddock Wood. A search uncovered knuckledusters hidden in a chest of drawers. He faced a string of charges including:

  • Driving dangerously
  • Driving while disqualified
  • Possessing an offensive weapon
  • Driving without insurance or a licence

Judge Sends Suyolcu Down for One Year

Suyolcu pleaded guilty at Maidstone Crown Court and was sentenced to 12 months in prison on 12 January 2023. He is banned from driving for the next five and a half years.

“Suyolcu drove with complete disregard and contempt for the safety of other road users,” said CPT Sergeant Ed Kavanagh. “His reckless actions could have caused devastating consequences. It’s only by chance no one was seriously injured.”
