Man Charged Over 30-Year-Old Murder of Nikki Allan

A killer has finally been charged in the brutal stabbing murder of seven-year-old Nikki Allan, who was found dead in a derelict building in Hendon back in 1992.

Nikki’s Tragic Last Day

Nikki disappeared near her family home on 7 October 1992 after visiting her grandparents’ flat in the same block. A frantic search began when she failed to return.

The next morning, her shoes were spotted inside the old, abandoned Exchange Building – and tragically Nikki was found inside, having been stabbed 37 times.

Suspect Appears at Newcastle Crown Court

David Thomas Boyd, 54, from Norton, Teesside, has been charged with Nikki’s murder. He only spoke to confirm his name and date of birth during his first court appearance at Newcastle Crown Court.

Boyd was remanded in custody and will next appear at court on 20 June.

Police Pay Tribute, Promise Justice

“This is an extremely tragic case and our thoughts very much continue to be with the family and friends of Nikki Allan,” said Northumbria Police Assistant Chief Constable David Felton.

“A significant investigation has been ongoing ever since Nikki’s death 30 years ago. As with any unsolved cases of this nature, they are never closed. Our dedicated teams constantly review the evidence and follow any new leads.

“I would like to offer my sincere thanks to Nikki’s family for their patience and cooperation. We will continue to support them in any way we can.”
