Son Stabs 78-Year-Old Mother to Death in Chilling Home Attack
Tragedy Strikes in Tye Green Wimbish
Mark Jozunas, 49, brutally stabbed his 78-year-old mother, Valerie Jozunas, at their home in Tye Green Wimbish on Sunday, 1 March. Emergency services rushed to the scene after concerns were raised about Valerie’s welfare. Despite paramedics’ desperate efforts, she sadly died at the scene.
Stab Wounds Cause Fatal Blood Loss
A post-mortem revealed Valerie died from severe blood loss caused by multiple stab wounds. Mark Jozunas was swiftly charged with her murder and convicted by a Chelmsford Crown Court jury on 8 September.
Life Sentence Handed Down
Today, Friday 30 October, Jozunas was jailed for life, with a minimum term of 20 years. Detective Chief Inspector Stephen Jennings of the Kent and Essex Serious Crime Directorate said:
“This was a tragic event in which Jozunas brutally took his mother’s life and then attempted to lie about it. I am pleased that justice has been served for Valerie, and hope this sentence will provide some solace for the family.”
