Woman’s Horror in Portsmouth: Raped by Known Man in Car Park
Portsmouth Crown Court has sentenced Levi Seriki-Walters, 35, to eight years in prison for raping a woman in her 20s. The sick attack unfolded in a commercial car park near The Anchorage just after 1.40am on 27 August 2020.
Brave Victim’s Cry for Help Leads Police to Scene
Police raced to the scene after witnesses heard a woman crying for help. Members of the public found the distressed woman, who told officers she had been physically assaulted and raped by Seriki-Walters — a man she knew. CCTV footage captured him chasing her from the area, while forensic evidence sealed his guilt.
Guilty Verdict After Jury Deliberation
Despite the mountain of evidence, Seriki-Walters denied the charges. But on 12 April, just over a week after his trial began, the jury took two and a half hours to deliver a guilty verdict.
Police Praise Victim’s Courage, Offer Support to Others
“I want to commend the bravery of this woman for telling officers what had happened to her, and for working with police throughout the investigation and trial period,” said DC Jasmin Curson from Operation Amberstone.
“She experienced something terrible that no person should ever have to experience. The man responsible has now rightly been brought to justice and put behind bars where he can’t harm another person in this way.”
“We take allegations of sexual offences incredibly seriously and support victims every step of the way. Anyone affected is encouraged to contact police on 101 or reach out to specialist support agencies if they’re not ready to speak to officers directly.”
