Man Jailed for Rape at Croydon House
Diego Dellarovere, 43, from Holland Road, W14, has been sentenced to seven years in prison at Snaresbrook Crown Court on Friday, 15 March.
Convicted of Multiple Sexual Offences
Dellarovere was found guilty of rape, assault by penetration, and sexual assault at Croydon Crown Court on 19 January. The shocking attack took place at a house in Croydon where the victim rented a room.
Victim Attacked in Her Own Home
The sickening ordeal happened on 7 May 2021 after Dellarovere booked to stay at the property through an online site. After spending the evening out, he returned home and sexually assaulted the woman before raping her.
Police Hunt and Arrest
- Officers launched an investigation once the woman bravely came forward in May 2021.
- Intelligence linked Dellarovere to the property, prompting arrest enquiries at his home — but he wasn’t there.
- He later handed himself in at Hammersmith Police Station.
Detective Praises Victim’s Courage
“Dellarovere forced himself on this woman in her own home. Somewhere she should have felt safe and I do not doubt that she was terrified. I am pleased our investigation has resulted in him receiving a significant custodial sentence and I would like to praise the victim for the support she has shown the investigation. We do not underestimate the impact that would have had on her,” said Detective Constable Natalie Alchin, who led the case.
“The Met continue to be committed to tackling violence against women and girls. I hope this outcome encourages other victims of sexual offences to come forward and report them to us.”
