Lock-Knife Attack in Chester: Man Jailed for Slashing Stranger’s Face
Falez Hamed, 25, has been handed a hefty six-year prison sentence, plus an extra four years on licence, at Chester Crown Court on October 27.
Unprovoked Knife Assault Rocks Chester City Centre
The nomadic Chester man, who pleaded guilty to wounding with intent and carrying a bladed article, attacked a 32-year-old man in the early hours of August 13.
The victim and his partner, 30, were walking along Bridge Street just after 3am when Hamed approached them and grabbed the woman’s arm.
What started as a brief verbal spat quickly turned violent. Hamed slashed the man’s face with a lock knife, gouging a nasty five-inch wound.
Swift Police Action Puts Attacker Behind Bars
Officers on patrol responded fast, locating and arresting Hamed shortly after the incident.
“This was a totally unprovoked attack which left the victim with a significant wound on his face, which is likely to impact him for the rest of his life,” said Detective Constable Andrew Manson of Chester CID.
“Following his arrest, Hamed refused to answer any questions, but thanks to the evidence we gathered he had no option but to plead guilty to the charges.”
“I hope that his conviction and the significant sentence handed to him will provide some closure to the victim and allow them to move forward.”
20-Year Chester Ban Added to Sentence
Alongside his prison term, Hamed has been slapped with a 20-year ban from entering Chester city.
Justice served for the victim and a stark warning to anyone carrying blades in the city streets.
